Is TRENCH-TECH®? Trench-Tech® is a company managed and directed by a team of highly experienced professionals in the design, manufacturing and marketing of heavy-duty trenching equipment. Well-known to the trenching industry, Al, Jerry, and John Gilbert, are an integral part of the Trench-Tech® team, with over five decades of experience. Each of the three Gilbert family members has experience dating back to the original Jetco® Company. Founded in 1945, and located in Alhambra, California, Jetco® was officially known as the Jiffy Excavator Tooth Company. When Jetco® decided to add manufacturing capabilities to their company agenda in the early 1950’s, Al Gilbert was brought aboard to head the development team. Until then, the company activities centered on forging replacement teeth and holders for various types of construction, utility, and pipeline trenching equipment. The next two decades brought in additional members of the family, with Jerry Gilbert joining in the 60’s, followed by John Gilbert in the 70’s. Beginning in the mid 1970’s, the Jetco® Company set the stage for the extensive development of rock trenching equipment. The “Bucket” or “ Wheel Type Trencher” advanced significantly during this period of time and demonstrated that cutting rock with a wheel trencher was possible and even affordable. Technological advancements in these trenchers continued into the next decade. In the early 1980’s, the Gilbert family departed from their association with Jetco® that spanned the previous three decades to form another trencher manufacturing company. The new company, Trencher Corporation of America, as it was officially named, pioneered the development of “The Mechanical Heavy-duty Chain Trencher”, that has been so successful and well known in the market place today. In 1984, Trencher Corporation of America purchased the assets of Jetco® and merged the two companies at the Jetco® location in Grand Prairie, Texas. Ultimately, the merged company was sold to a public held company in the late 1980s. The Gilbert family retained management positions in the company as late as 1999. During this period of time, the largest and most complete line of trenchers in the world was developed. Machines ranging from 100 horsepower and 25,000 pounds in weight to 1600 horsepower and 450,000 pounds in weight represented a product line unequalled by any other company or management group in the world. As a result of the involvement in various management and ownership positions throughout the years, the Gilbert family has acquired a combined experience factor in the heavy-duty trencher industry of 100 plus years. It is this experience and knowledge, combined with a vision to build new and improved trencher products that propels Trench-Tech® into the new millennium. Trench-Tech®’s desire and goal is to produce trenching equipment for pipeline, utility and site development projects that are superior to what is currently available to the industry. Trench-Tech®’s intent is not to re-invent the wheel, but to add quality and refinement to the heavy-duty trencher industry, which will result in offering the best possible trencher at fair and reasonable pricing. The new 2000 Series Trench-Tech® mechanical trenchers incorporates a number of changes and refinements that will set new standards for the industry. These changes are readily visible to end users who are familiar with the heavy-duty trencher market and the various available products. Four standard models will be available, ranging from 200 horsepower to 800 horsepower, with various boom options and cutting widths for each model. In addition to a revolutionary line of trenching equipment, Trench-Tech® will specialize in parts, service, and consulting for the pipeline and underground utility markets. A special emphasis will be placed upon parts, service, and consulting involving Trencor® products as a result of management’s extensive knowledge and background in this area.
